CAMBRIDGE WEST SCHOOL.
A MKUTIVi; of the Cambridge West. School Committee was held on Saturday, 2nd July. Present: Mr K. Allen, chairman, Messrs Tucker, Rid and H. Fitzgerald. A letter was received fr..m Mr Bruce saying that in consequence of Mrs Bruce having been appointed a teacher in the school he b«gged to resign as member of the committee. It was resolved that his resignation be accepted, and that the next highest on the list of those nominated at the annual meeting be asked to act as meinour in place of Mr Bruce. The head teacher's report on ' the state of the School during the quarter was favourable he alsc said that Miss Dillon had so far given every satisfaction in cleaning avid dusting the school also that Mrs Bruce had been employed at this suhool since May'lth, and reported chat during that time she had given every saiisfartion. Tho attendance report was read showing the average attendance for the quarter to be over (iO. _ Re Arbour Day, a letter had been received offering to supply trees, etc., for planting the school grounds statin? that the trees would be supplied free of cost, A letter was received from Mr Wyatt stating that the Pukekura Mutual Improvement Society wished to have the use of the school roomto hold their meetings on alternate Friday nights, and to find their own lights, etc. Resolved that the Society have the use of the school room on the nights named for the sum of two shillings per night provided they find fuel and lights, also to be responsible for any damage done to lamps, school furniture, fences, or breakage of windows, and school furniture to be put in proper place after their meetings. Eve estimates for school requisites for present year tenders were received from Messrs Upton, Patterson and Co., J. S. Bond, Chinipaloup and Cooper. Sanrles and Co., Hamilton. It was resolved that if Mr J. S. Bond can supply American bound wire slates at price 4s, and Field's ink at 7s that his tender be accepted. The other articles required Mr Hyatt to inspect the quality at Mr Bond's and if satisfactory to gel same from him. Re cutting trees, the secret iry was authorised to get them cut n.t more than IS feet from tho ground, and where cut to be made uniform in height.
it is proposed to hold a concert in the second week of September in aid of the school fund.
