NGAEUAWAHIA EACBS. rHB above races—which were postponed from Thursday last on account of the inclemency of the weather —came off on Saturday on the old course, at Ngaruawahia. The morning brokfl fine, but about 12 o'clock a heavy thunderstorm spread over the place, and the roin enmo down in torrents again, which seemed likely to pnt a atop to the racing. Howevor, about 1 o clock the rain cleared off, and tho races were proceeded with. There were about GOO people present. Mr Rathborne officiated as judge, and Mr H. Hinton acted as atarcer, and, it is needless to say, both gave general satisfaction to all. Mr T. \V. Simpson, the indefatigable secretary, worked hard to make the affair a success, and his efforts were amply rewarded. The police, under Inspector Emerson, kept things straight, and their services were not roqu'ired once during the day. A totalisator was on the ground, and seemed to be doing a fair business. Nithmount kept the lead at the back of the course, and to half-way down the straight, where Lady Marion put in her claim, but Weal wuke the favourite up, and won by a length. Dividend, £2 Bs. Ngaruawahia Cop, of 2osovs. Mr Brown's Snake, (Brown) J Mr Harris' Antic (Smith) ' Mr Hannon's Haricot (Donovon) ... < Nnvigator was the only other starter Haricot jumped away with the lead, closelj followed by Antic and Snake. This ordei was maintained till the back of the coursi wa* reached, where Haricot fell bacl beaten, and Snake took command, winnini easily by two lengths. Dividend, 15a. VnifOl W.APR. nf irisoVH.

Mr T. Crosby's Decpiver, (Jones) ... 1 Mr T. Connolly's Taffy. (Singer) ... 2 About ten horses started. This was a good race, Deceiver winning, after a severe struggle, by half-a-length. Dividend, kX Bf. The winner was put up fur sale by Mr Hunter and bought in by the owner for £17 5s NOARUAWAHIA PLATE, of 15sOVe. Mr Harris' A.ntic, (Smith) 1 Mr Brown's Snake, (Brown) 2 Mr Hannon's Haricot. (Donovon) ... 3 Nithmount also started. From a good Rtart, Antic took tho lead, which he maintained to the finish, winning by a length. Dividend, 16s. Stekplkchask, of 20sovs. Mr Henwood's Muscatelle, (Owner) ... 1 Peter, Summer, and Lorace also started. This was a very hollow race. Muscatelle was the only horse that got round the course, the others all baulking. Dividond, 18s. Forced Handicap, of Beovs. Mr Muir's Folly, (Qnarterman) 1 Mr Harris' Antic, (Smith) 2 Mr Hannon'a Haricot, (Brown) 3 These were the only starters. Folly and Antic raced neck and neck nearly all the way, but Folly managed to get home first by a, long neck. The machine was not opeu on this evont. General dissatisfaction waa expressed as to the running of Snake in the Plate, and the stewards decided to hold an enquiry into it. A meeting for this purpose was called for Saturday night but there not being a sufficient number present it waeadjournod till last evening.
