CANTERBURY v. WELLINGTON. Br TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION). Christchuuch, Last Night. The cricket match between teams of the above provinces commenced to-day at Lancaster Park, with fine weather. So far the game has gone against the home team who batted first and were all out for 154. Of these Deman made 49 by capital cricket; Wheatley 18, not out; Wilding, 18; Labate, 18; T. D. Harman, 15; A. Hurmau, 14; and Bates, 11, being the other doubles. Frith took five wickets for 54 runs, and Virtue 3 for 45. Wellington's first innings so far has produced 162 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, R. Blacklock playing a fine game for 75. C. Gore 33 and C. Rawshaw 32, were the other chief scorers.
