SALES OF NATIVE LAND.
(by telegraph.—press association.) Wellington, Last Night. The purchase of a block of laud in the Urawera Country, Bay of Plenty, has just been completed by the Government. The block contains 40,000 acres, and has been purchased at an average prico of 2s 3d per acre. The land is to be thrown open for settlement at an early date. Another large block, known as the Pouakanui, in the West Taupo District, near the Waikato River, is now under negotiation. It contains 42,000 acres, and is only 20 miles away from the main trunk line of railway. The price will average 2s Gd per acre.
