LORD GLASGOW.
(by electric telegraph—copyright.) London, March 2. Lord Kutjtsford expressed regret that there has been any misunderstanding respecting the submission of the names of the proposed Governor to the Government of New Zealand, but denies that there has been any breach of faith. Mr Perceval, Agent-General for New Zealand, states that he underetood that he had received an assurance that the Government would be informed of the appointment before it was made. The Colonial Office undertook to use every precaution that nobody should be appointed who was not perfectly acceptable. Lord Glasgow intends to vary his residence in New Zealand, and to keep in touch with all classes of the community. He says that he relies on energy and devotion in carrying out his duties to ensure for him a successful term as Governor. He does not favour the proposal that the colonies should nominate their Governors.
