AT the invitation of tho Mayor, a meeting of citizens was hell at the council offices this afternoon tor the purpose of preparing a programme in connection with His Excellency the Governor's approaching departure from the colony. There was a large attendance. The Mayor stated ho had received the following telegram fr.irn L'ir.l Onslow :—"As public mourning onds on sth February, I shall keep all engagements after that date.' . They could, therefore, proceed to consider how best to give our worthy Governor a very kindly send off.
