(BV TELEGRAPH.—OWN UOItUKSPONDKNT.) Auckland, Last Night. The Mayor invites citizens or any others residing outside the city who desire to tike part to meet him at the Council Chambers on Wednesday, to draw up a programme in connectbn with tho departure of the Governor from New Zealand.
The Auckland whaling schooner Christine, which left here three months ago ou a pioneer whaling cruise off tho East Coast and tho Kermadecs, returned to Russell after an unsuccessful cruise. After provisioning, she resumed her cruise. The Onehunga Racing Club bring off their summer meeting on the Otahuhu racecourse to-morrow. " Hippona,'' in tonight's Star, says the Cup may be won by Tulloch, and Tommy may get home first in tho Hurdle Race. Probably Hopeful Kate will win the Steeplechase.
