James Madden, an ex-publican, was committed for trial, this morning, for attempting to.stab Dr. Grace with a pocket knife.
The Wellington Meat Export Co.'s new works at Nghauranga, were fitted with Linde Co.'a ammonia freezing Machinery, instead of the usual Haslam or other compressed air type. As this is the first time this machinery has been tried in the colonies, the experiment is being watched with some interest. The machinery began to run on Sunday, and the company report it as completely successful.
The report of the Wellington Trust Loan and Investment Society states that after paying an interim dividend of £4,000 there is an available balance of £0,00-1, out of which the director's propose to (jay a further dividend of £'5,002, making!) per cent, for the year, aud to carry forward £1,002 to the new account.
