School Insi'kctiox.—Mr Crowe, the Inspector of Schools, was here on Tuesday last, and examined the children attendintr the school, when a|t the pupils sent up tor examination passed, with the exception of one. Great credit i.s due to onr present teacher, as also to our former master, Mr A. E. Burton, who was some short tnno ago removed to Auckland.

Tin: Cohi.no Election.— Election matters do not seem to trouble the settlers much in this part. Mr Lake's requisition has been well signed by the electors here, who, with tha exception of a few, are in favour of his candidature. In Mr Lake we have a gentleman well-known and highly respected, and whilst our member honestly did all he could for the district and the country at large, what better can we do thin re'i)rn him ngiin, and ten half-crowns to one I'll bet to Wellington he goes ; yes, and hands down, too.
