MR. BARUGH AND "HARAPEPE."
TO TIIE KMTOK. Sill,—l present my compliments to " Harapepe," bill I am not going to bo dragged into controversy with a man who lias scribbling monomania. I am not aware that the people of Waikato have committed any crime so great as to deserve a punishment so excruciating as the perusal of our correspondence would inflict on them. Therefore in deep regard for their welfare, I decline any controversy with " Harapepe.''—Yours, etc.. .To.s. J. Bahugh. Wartle, August 21, 1891. TO THE EDITOR. Stß,—" Harapepe," the sage of the township of that name, is always giving advice (?) through the columns of your valuable journal. In my opinion, it would be better if the space were left blank rather than it should be occupied by such wretched verbiage. He is always gassing in a rambling, incomprehensivo, and incoherent manner as to tho way this colony ought to bo governed ; now if be could only see his trashy productions in the same lisrht as tho intelligent readers of your journal hu would think twice before venturing upon asking for your room. Mr Editor, I think you flatter tliis great sage in providing space for the ponderous productions of his great mind (?) Surely it must be the locality in which ho resides, just under the great Pirongia mountain, that gives t.im his inspiration. I cannot imagine how otherwise such marvellous concoctions could b" produced. "Harapepe" has made a vile attack upon one of our most valued settlers ; Mr Jos. Barugh has added more to the wealth of the colony 111 one short month than men of the stamp ot " Harapepe " have done in a lifotimo. " Harapepe " is not fit to black the boots of such a gentleman as Mr Birugli. From my knowledge of Mr B irugh, he is about the last man in the colony that would strive to obtain any change in the reduction of freights on our railways or any other thing unless he felt sure that it would be a benefit to tho whole people.—Yours, &c., Te Rore.
