Clarke v. Taxnkii.— Claim, £7 12s fid. Mr Liresliam for plaintiff; the defendant did not appear. Since the summons had been issued, defendant hud paid a portion of the amount.—Judgment was given for plaintiff for costs (t'2 Is lid).

TuKOItEHEU AND OTHERS.— This was the assault case p i'tly heard last Court day, Several more natives gave evidence for the defonce, contending that they wp.i'B justified by native custom in committing the assault. —His Worship, in giving judgment, said the defendants may have imagined they had a right to assault the plaintitF as they did, ami he would, therefore, only fine thein -~>< each and costs. —Tupotnhe, one of the defendants, at once paid the tines and costs, amouuting in all to ill 10s.
