KIHIKIHI.
Natives.—During tlio last few days a large number of native* have arrived in <irder In attend the Lmd Court, which opened on Thursday, Their arrival has, 111 additi in to making the town present a much more lively appearance than usual, dona a great deal towards ii'npron'ng busineis, which for a long time past has been rather dull. Laxij Court.—-The Native Land Cou-t opened hero, as above stated, on Thursday last, but 110 business of any importance wr. proceeded with. Mr J. H, Edwards, on behalf of Taonui and others, made application to adjourn the Court to Otorohanga, on tho ground that the block to be dealt with—viz., Maraeroa—is in that district. This was vigorously opposed by Messrs Grace and Moon, on behalf of various natives. It was tinally decided to refuse tho application. Rink.—A very successful private rink took pla"e in the Town Hali on Monday night, at which a goodly number of ladies and gentlemen were pvosent. Kinking was indulged in till about 10.30 p.m., when all diapered, thoroughly satisfied with their night's amusement. Town Board.—The X.Z. Gazette of the 13th inst. contains an Order-in-Council declaring the Kihikilu Town Board to be subject to the provisions of "The Public Bodies Powers Act, 1.557." It has been found necessary to adopt the Act in order to enable the Board to reduce the rents of its endowments, at present held by various lessees. The Weather.—During the last few days the weather has been very rough, and on Thursday night exceptionally heavy rain fell, causing tho water to flow along the streets in large streams.
