CAMBRIDGE BOROUGH COUNCIL AND THE DOMAIN BOARD.
A joint committee, consisting of three members of each of tiie above bodies, met in the Cambridge Council Chambers on Thursday, at 2.30 p.m., to discuss the disputed points re the leveling jf the gravel pits on domain property formerly used by the late town board, and the liability of the council to level the pit now in nsn on the Thornton road, which it is intended should be added to the domain. Those present were Messrs Priestley, Bond and Webber for the Council, and Messrs Wolls, Fishor and Walker for the Domain Board. The Mayor (Mr Priestley) was elected chairman, and ho and Mr Wells briefly traversed the whole of the correspondence that had taken place in connection with the matter. After a lengthy discussion, it was unanimously resolved to recommend that the Borough Council carry out the terms of the agreement made with tho Town Board, viz.. to spread tho surface soil over the old gravel pits, and that the council should pay to the Domain Board, at such lime as the council ceased to use tho pit ou the Thornton road, an amount equal to half the cost of rendering such pit available as a road.
Tim public of Cambridge will be pleased to learn that this much disputed point is now in a fair way of being settled. It certainly seems infra dig tor two public bodies, both professing to act for the good of the inhabitants, to be squabbling, and we congratulate tin: committeo uu the result of their deliberations.
