THE COMPADRE WRECK.
(BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) IWEHCARGILL, List Night. Capt. Joies, of the wrecked barque Com padre, states that had it not been for the Government stores and domesticated animals on the Auckland Islands his crow w<*uld have been in a most dangerous and pitiful plight. Of the sheep they caught eight, and of the goats throe, leaving, he thinks, sufficient to keep the islands stocked. Some of the wool the captain saved, and washed and brought it with him to the Bluff-»he thinks from 50 to (iOlbs weight. Tho animals have never been shorn, and the tteecea are extraordinarily long and hue. He showed the wool to Capt. Fairchild, of the Hinemoa, at the Bluff, who suggested it should be sold, and the proceeds handed to the Invercargill Wreck Fund, which had been drawn on to send live stock to tho Auckland Islands from time to time. Out of this fund the crew wore provided with clothing.
