[BY TELEGRAPH—OWN COtIHI«PONI)ENT.| Auckland, L ist Night. The subject of quarter money c.tmo before the Board of Education to-day. Mr Grant moved "That a capitation allowaneo of, say, 8d per head per anuuin reckoned oil the average school attendance be made to each committee for the purchase of school requisites as per authorised list to be issued, and from the Board's contractor." Upon this, Mr Muir moved as an amendment to .Mr Grant's motion "That the 13oard call for tenders tor the supply of school requisites, to bo delivered." A long discussion ensuod, resulting in the rejection of both motion and amendment, Messrs Grant, Cooper and Bucldmrst each gave notice of motion for tho abolition of quartor money. A discussion arose upon Mr Buckhurst's motion to prohibit home work, but the questiou wus finally postponed.
