PUKEKURA ROAD BOARD.
A mketjnu of the above Board was held in the Pukeriinu school-room on Monday, 15th July. Present: Messrs Lake (chairman),2James Scott, J. Anderson, and W. Vosper.—A letter was received from the clerk of tho Cambridge Borough Council, requesting the Board to join with them 111 asking Mr Bryco to got an Act passed authorising the leasing of Crown lands for a period of years. The secretary was instructed to reply that the chairman had written direct to Mr Bryce asking him to take such steps as he might see best in getting the necessary alterations in tho land laws. —Several n, pairs to roads which had been cariied out since last meeting wero approved, and other repairs were authorised.—lt was resolved that tenders be invited for forming Tennyson-street, aud also for tilling iu the old gravel pits on the Pukekura road.—Mr Lake said if the Board thought it desirable ho would write to Mr Bryce asking him to got au amendment in tho Cemeteries Act giving pcririsaion to tho trustees <>f the cemeteries to lease the part (if any) not required for burials, bo that any proceeds from such rental could be dovoted to improvine the said cemeteries. It was resolved that Mr Lake be authorised to do so.—ln accordance with notice of motion, Mr L ike proposed, that any person removing anv gn>vol or soil from the roads under the control of the Board, except by direct p«nni.s*ion from the Board, will be prosocuted. Carried.—Accounts amounting to £1 9s lid were passed for payment.—lt was resolved to hold the next meeting on Monday, 7th September,
