NATIVE LAND COURT AT CAMBRIDGE.
I'OU-A-KATJI BLOCK. Tub Court opened at 10 a.m., when Judge l'oelsoy gave a very lengthy and exhaustive review <if the evidence th.it hud been given touching the ease, after which ho delivered judgment as follows :—The Court finds : (1) That Te Kohera, Parakawa and Parawheto have no right ; but that Hitiri, as a descendant of Wairangi, has an undoubted right with hU nearest of kin. (2) That Ngatiupokoili, in so far as the claim for part of Tnaropaki is concerned, has no right; but as regards the small piece said to bo part of Wharepuhunga the Court is in .some doubt, and would like to have more evidence about it. (3) That Karawhira Kapu (Mrs. Wm. Moon) and the persons represented by A Patetie, in addition to the rights admitted, also have rights under Haknhanui (ancestor). (1) That Te Paehua (cm behalf of Ngatiraaniapoto) has proved his right to the part claimed by him. The Court therefore awards the land before the Court to Nsr.itimoe, Ngatiwairangi.Ngatikoratuohu, Ngatirakan. Ngatihiuekahu, and to Ngatiha; and Ngatimaniapoto, as represented by Te Paehua in respect ofTapnraroa, to Pureora. This finding does not at present affect the portion of Wlnrepuhung* claimed by Makuini and others.
Before leaving the Court the Judge notified the natives that he would start with the Marairoa block on Monday moruing.
