RAGLAN.

S.s. Glenelg.—The Northern Company's trader here not having put in an appearance tor at least three weeks after her usual time of arrival, was most anxiously looked forward to. She arrived here on Thursday morning, and brought about twenty passengers, twelve of whom were hands for Mr Hall's flax-mill. Three gentlemen from Auckland, with their dogs and guns, also arrived for the season's sport. The steamer did not get away until the nest day, after she had discharged one of the largest cargoes ever landed in Itaglan, and had taken in 70 tons of flax at tho beach store, Te Akau side, and from the Itiglan wharf and store. Sailing Vussur,.— The promoters of this enterprise havo been actively engaged during the last few days in inducing settlers throughout the district to become shareholders in the purchaso and sailing of a vessel that is intended to trade along the coast,. Information has been received that towards 200 shares havo been taken up, and a meeting will shortly take place in reference to the matter.

Treasure Tuovb.—As to the treasure trove, an old Spanish coin has been picked up ou the Ruapuke beach quite recently, and, as was stated in your paper, perhaps that curiously carved stone that belonged to Dr. Bay was a part of the ship's block, which was also found on the beach not far away from the wrecked ship. May it not also have belonged to the "Mahoyeded Bucks," the supposed name of the buried ship. ftiOST.— Since Saturday last we have had beautiful clear days, with severe frost at nicht, in nearly all parts of the district. Flax.—All the mills are still in full operation. A telegram is said to have been received last week from n large Auckland buyer to a flax miller here recommending him to close his mill for the winter, owing to the unfavourable out-look as to the price of Hax. , „ Ciutkch Service.— The Rev. Mr Thomas paid a visit to Ruapehu, accompanied by the local minister, on Saturday last-, intending to have held services, both at that place and at To Mata, but owing to the inclement weather on Sunday, no services were held in those places. In the evening of that day, Mr Thomas a good congregation at the Raglan Church, and many peoplo wero disappointed in not being able to hoar the rev. gentleman, owing to the rain. The Rev. Mr Hasledon was to have been here last Sunday, but being informed of Mr Thomas' visit, postponed his own. ChukOH Soiree.—A soiroa was held in the Wesleyan Church, Raglan, on the evening of' Tuesday, April 28lb, in cou-iw:-i hi with those meeting under the pastoral of the Rev. Mr Williams. A large number of persons were present, tlie building being comfortably filled. The tea tables were presided over by the following ladies, viz:—Mrs Mitchell, Miss Mitchell, Mrs Wallis, Miss Wallis, Mrs Williams and Miss Savage. The after-meeting was then opened, the Rev. Mr Williams occupying the chair, and several hymns and recitations were given, with much appreciation. The Chairman then addressed the meeting, briefy giving an outline of tho reason of hia coming amongst them to labour in the Raglan district, and expressing his pleasure at seeing so many friends present, who had come forward to wish him " Hod speed " in his work. Mr Williams then read out tho plan of services he proposed to carry out. The usual vote of thanks having boon given, the company separated, after spending a pleasant evening together.
