THE FINDING OF THE ARNABOLDI COMMISSION.

TO THK KDITOII. Sill, —Your leading article of to-day re the finding of tho Arnaboldi emjniry commission, and your independent and straightforward comments thereon should command the hearty sympathy and approval of all thinking and earnest - minded persons. The sincere thanks of the public are indeed due to Miss Arnaboldi for her noble sense of duty, which impelled her at whatever personal hazard and cost, to report in the proper quarter circumstances which she rightly considered indicated so much risk and peril to the helpless patients of our Auckland Hospital. Tho manner in which her report was received by the majority of the Hospital Board (for there, were some honourable dissentients) was as deplorable as Miss Arnaboldi's conduct had been honourable and praiseworthy. Examples are none too fiequent amongst us of such self-forgetfulness and devothn, and care for " the wrongs that need resistance, and the cause that lacks assistance." It is trnlv much to be lamented that a finding in itself so just and true as that arrived at by the commission should, in its expression have been marred by I)r, Mirbach's regret, ting that a respect for discipline (liliaH we say) had noi> restrained Miss Arnaboldi from an act which the decision of the Commissioner's themselves showed had been of most important and necessary service to the public welfare. As well might we (for example) censure the boatswain of a ship for reporting to the captain a serious leak in her bottom, lu><iauso such report reflected on the officer on duly who had neglected to deal with it. Mom people must cordially sympathise with Mr Forrest's suggestion and recognise that, as Miss Arnaboldi's expenses must have been considerable, it is but a graceful acknowledgement by tho public, of its obligations to her, to try and help to meet them. As yon kindly oiler to receive subscriptions for vliat purpose, I herewith sjend you my small contribution.— I am, ic. Fitzuov I'kacocke. Hamilton, March 7th, IS!)].
