PRESBYTERIAN SOIREE AT CAMBRIDGE.

Tub annual soiree in connection with the Trinity J'resbyterinn Rhnrch, was held in tho Public Hull, (in Wednesday ovening. nod was a great success, Iho hall being crowded. Tea was served »t U.BO p.m., theru being eight tables, at which the following ladies presided :—Mesdames J. >'isher. \V. Scott, E. Rhodes, T. Brown, J. M. Hally, and G. J. Neul, Miss Wallace and Miss Campbell, the latter kindly officiating at a subscription table. It is almost need]p«q to say thnt. the above-mentioned ladies were assisted by a bevy of fair damsels, and that the eatables provided were excellent and plentiful; the names of the donors being a sufficient guarantee as to the quality nftho viands. After the tea tables had been cleared nway, the followingprognimroe «aa well rendered. The Kev. W. Evaim presided, and gavo a short introductory speech, which was full of humour :—Trio, "Ye Shepherd's Tell Me," Hiss Bell, Messrs Gilmur and Brookes ; song, "Trustin? " Miss A. Evans; reading, " Nothing to Wear," Mr C. W. Clarke; song, "Keniember Me No Mom," Miss Chambers; song, "The Birlcs of Aborfeldy," Mr J. P. Thomson; sonsr, "Annie Laurie, ' Miss Bell; son?, ''Anchored, Mr Uilmor; piano diKit. march by Schubert, Messrs McDermott and Hartley; aong, ' The Death of Xclsnn/ , Mr O. Garland; song, "Ring Out Wild Bells.' , Miss Priestly; son?, " Wo'fl and Married and a',' Mr J. i P. Thomson; snnsr, "Auntie," Mrs C. Hnnter; duet, " I Know a Bank, Miss Dell and Mr Gilmer. Mra Hnnter aDd Mr Giliner were loudly applauded for their songs, but did not repeat them. Che other singers also rendered their songs in an efficient manner. .Mr Gilmer has a tenor voice of tine quality, that has evidently been carefully trained. He certainly made a good impression the other evening, and he may expect to receivo numerous invitations to concerts, soirees, <kc. Ihe usual votes of thanks were given, and the meeting closed with the singing of the "National Anthem."
