HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the above Council was held in the Chambers last night. There were present: His Worship the Mayor (Isaac Ooatea Esq), and Crs. Jones, Scott l'arr, Wood, Slade, Reid, Bell, Tippen and Day. REPRESENTATIVE. —On the motion of Cr Tippen, His Worship the Mayor was proposed as tho representative on the Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. Seconded by Cr Reid and carried unanimously. Demand.—A demand was received fiom Mr Hay on behalf of Mr W. Peacock for £1 4s being the amount due to him for wages. Considerable discussion ensued over this demand as Mr Peacock had refused to work the four days which he now claimed for. —The Mayor moved tho suspension of the standing orders, which was carried.—Cr. Jones said that the demand was a small one, and Peacock had been a good servant to tho Council for 13 years. He had lost one eye in the service and the loss was affecting the other "one. He moved that the claim be paid. Seconded by Cr. Tippen and carried. This was all the business.
