AUCKLAND PASTORAL AND HORTICULTURAL SHOW.

Is Saturday's issue, owing to the lateness of the hour at which the judging was concluded on l'Viday, and the distance from the telegraph office, we were unable to give more than a general review of the Auckland Agricultural Show, which was held in Potter's paddock, on Friday and Saturday last. There was a vnry general expression <>f opinion that the lack of competition in tho live stock classes reflected anything but favourably upon the enterprise of the farmers and breeders in the districts in and around Auckland. It is remarkable that the farmers, for whose special benefit and education these meetings are promoted, take so little real interest in them that they will not take the trouble to exhibit unless they happen to fancy they have something that cannot be beaten. We are proud to say that notwithstanding the expense Mid lisk attendant on the conveyance of stock io long a distance as from Waikato it did not deter some of our settlers trom taking part in the show, and, indued, but for Mr McXicol's sheep and Mr Day's Jersey cattle, tho competition iu these classes would have been almost devoid of interest, Tho following list of prizes shows how well our Waikato men came to the front :—
