RAGLAN LAND SALE.
Everywhere you go in and around Raglan the place is dotted with flags. the red, white and blue fluttering in the breeze denoting the fact that the several allotments upon which they are placed will be offered on Saturday, November 29th, at two o'clock by public competition at the Council Chambers, Raglan, by Mr T. B. Hill, This being the first land sale held here it naturally causes great excitement in the district, and it is hoped that it may be the means of securing more resident settlers in the place and less absentees in the future. At this sale an opportunity will be offered for those desirous of securing building sites for the erection of dwellings and the purchase of buildings already erected, close to the sea, for as the years go by Raglan is taking its place as a favourite watering place where will come not only the broken down in health to be restored by its splendid climate, but the visitor upon pleasure bent who can here spend many a happy day either boating, fishing, or if a lover of Nature's charms, can visit our renowed Bridal Falls at Te Mata, have a dip in the Hot Springs, or the briny deep, climb glorious old Karioi and from its summit view the prospect round or take a ramble round our shores and pick up the murmuring shells and throw them one by one away. Particular notice should be taken of the valuable lots to be offered by Mr Sutton comprising the Royal Hotel, and so admirably situated in Cliff-street that it should find a ready purchaser, together with general store, bakery, and other useful outbuildings, now doing a good business, and in the hands of a pushing man a good investment, also a cottage on a large allotment adjoining the new wharf, a grand site for an accommodation house, and all those grand allotments in Cliff and other streets carefully selected by the late Mr Blandon and until now not for sale, as well as allotments of other owners too numerous mention. Among the numerous country and surburban lots are 400 acres of good land overlooking the ocean, and suitable for a nice homestead. The property is well sheltered and has large quantities of puriri (which is getting very scarce and more valuable every year in the district) and other valuable timber, mangaio being also abundant. There is no doubt this sale offers an opportunity that may perhaps not be met with again for securing lots, either in township or suburbs, and no doubt good competition will take place at the sale. Provision will be made for those at a distance reaching Raglan in time for the sale, either by the Northern Steamship Company's boat Glenelg, from Onehunga, or Sutton's special coach from Hamilton.
