TROUT OVA.
A SUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENT. [BY TELEGUAI'H— PRESS ASSOCIATION'. | Wellington, Last Night. Several weeks ago the Wellington Acclimatisation Society .sent a consignment of trout ova to Sydney. These eggs were hatched in Sydney and the steamer Te Kapo which arrived from there to-day brought two hermetically sealed jars in each of which were 15 of the young fish. The object of sending them across was to ascertain whether the fey could be successfully conveyed to any great distance without air, similar experiments having previously shown that they could be imprisoned for 70 hours without detriment to their health. The result has been satisfactory in this case as thn jars were kept for six days at a temperature of about sii degrees and only one fish arrived dead and all the ntlmrs are particularly lively. It is intended to forward the jars to the Society's Mnsterton establishment with instructions to liberate the occupants of one jar and see how they will develop, and to make an experiment as to how long the fry in the other will remain alive without air. j
