It is understood th;il Constable- (iillespie, formerly of the Mania police, has withdrawn hia resignation, both the Commissioner of Police and the Minister having favourably considered hid case. The Rev. Mr Austen, Congregational minister, who left for the south to-day, en route for England, was presentod with a purse of lOOsovs. by his congregation. It is understood that Captain Sinclair, of the Tarawera, succeed" Captain Edia on the Mararoa.
