ASSOCIATION OF SHIPMASTERS.
(liV TKLKfiIIAI'H.— T'IIKSS ASSOCIATION'.) Wellington, Tuesday. A mkktixu of shipmasters was hold to-day, lit which it was decided to form a New Zealand Shipmasters' Association, to which all holders of masters' certificates will be eligible. Junior officers will be admitted as lion, members. The association will not bo affiliated to any organisation whatever, but will stand by itself. Twenty-six masters have signed along with nine chief officers, and negotiations" are going on with other ports by telegraph. liA'I'KH. The Shipmasters' Association of New Zealand, which was established this afternoon, lias a membership up to the present of 42, of whom 3'J are captains and 10 chief officers. The former comprise captains of almost all the steamers in port. The latter are those who recently left the [Tnion Company's steamers, and have intimated their willingness to rejoin their ships when called upon by the company. The Association met to-night to draw tip rules, etc. Telegrams have been sent to the officers at Dunedin, Chrisfcchurch, and Auckland in- j funning them of what him been done, I
