WAITOA ROAD BOARD.

J. in: ordinary monthly meeting of the Waitoa Road lioard took place in the Nottingham Castle Hotel, Morriusvillo, on Saturday, June 2Sth. Present: Messrs W. P. Ohopinoll (chairman), R. \V, Hauiner, .T. Hurrel!, R. Parr, and .1. Turnbull. It was shown by the correspondence submitted that permission has been obtained from the owners of the Manngateparn block to take land for tho road leading to the native settlement on the Pinko river, without having to go to the troublo and expense of "taking , ' tho road under the provisions of the Public Works Act. Application has been made fm- the Governor's warrant to Mr F. Pavitt of To Aroha to do the survey, so that it is expected the work may .soon be started.—Mr Parr, who was appointed at the last Board mooting to confer with Mr T. Taylor and others ro cleaning out and deepening Johnson's creek drain, reported that Mr Mickelsen promised to bear the wholo expense of the work through his section, and that Mr Thos. Kowo promised to contribute 2e per chain for the work done through the section in his occupation. It wag considered that with this assistance in addition to Mr Hanmer's offer of £25 and the£lo promised by the Hoard, the work might bo done with out delay, and hence tenders were called for tho work. A letter was received from Mr Thomas Taylor, representing that the work could not be carried out to advantage while there is so much water in the drain, and he recominended that the work be deferred till the rainy season is over.—Tho Board , d«cided to defer the work sino die.—For the contract on Grattan's road, the following tenders were received : Johnson and Robinson, £15; \V. Thomson, £13 17s; t>. MeCabe, £11; J. Shine, £8 4s; Thos Stanley, £7 ;>s (accepted).—Accounts amounting to £50 Kis 4d were passed for payment.
