The CAMBRIDGE PUBLIC HALL PIANO.
TO THK KBITOn. Sib,—When reading your issue of July Ist, I could not but feel amused at the closing remarks mnde in the report of a lecture Riven in tho Cambridge Public Hall, on Juno 2()th. Ono would have imagined the writer ought to have known something about a new piano, as some months back, in a report of a Borough Council meeting, it was stated that Mr Hartly had kindly offered to arrange a series of concerts for the purpose of raising funds towards purchasing a new piano for the hall, and the oiler was gratefully accepted by the Council, and the use of the hall granted for the said concerts. Many others like myself have been looking forward to see the offer carried out, but no movement appears to have been made in the matter. As it is well-known a new piano is sadly needed, it is a great pity steps are not taken to do something towards procuring a new one, providing the above-mentioned offer has fallen through.—l am, yours etc., Amatelh.
