+ ■ (IJY ELEUrmC rELEGHAI'K. —COPYRIGHT.) Melisournk, May 20. At a meeting of the Chamber of Manufacturers a resolution was passed favouring the opening of trade betweeu Australia and Austro-Hungary. The opinion was expressed that the Austro-Hungariau Lloyds' Steam Navigation Company could, with advantage, extend the sphere of their operations to Australia. The Cabinet has accepted the resignation of the Hon. Mr Dow as Minister for Agriculture, he having insisted on this course being adopted. A Woolgrowers' Union has been formed with council, to enable all colonies to act in unison in cases of dispute. Sydney, May 20. Negotiations for the race betweeu Kemp and O'Connor for the sculling championship of the world, have come to a deadlock, the former insisting that the stake shall be £500 a-side. The latter's backers consider that as the majority of the championship races have been for £200 a-side the Canadian oarsman should not be asked to put up more than that sum. In the Legislative Assembly Mr Dibbs suggested that the Federation debate should be postponed, owing to Sir H. Parkes' illness. The Premier requested that the debate should proceed to the end of the week, when the Government would further express their intentions. At the Weeleyan Conference, the exchange of Revs. Simple and Taylor was rescinded, and the Victorian Conference directed to make suitable interchange for Mr Taylor. It was agreed to form Queensland into a separate Conference at the end of 1803. The next GcneralConference was fixed for Adelaido in 1891.
