AN ELOPEMENT FRUSTRATED.
[by telegraph— prkss association. 1 Napier, Last Night. The particulars of an interesting elopement case have been divulged. A draper's assistant some time ago became enamoured of a young lady, and it was arranged that they should proceed to Sydney together by the Jubilee sailing from Wellington on Wednesday. The draper, who is a married man with one child, proceeded to Wellington some time ago, and to avert suspicion the lady was to follow at her leisure. After the draper's departure frequent letters passed. These were torn up by the recipient, and the wife secured scraps which were thrown in a corner, and from them learned her husband's programme and address. A warrant for his arrest on a charge of wife desertion has been issued.
