THE INFLUANZA EPIDEMIC.

(BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, Last Night. Owing to the prevalence of influenza among teachers and scholars at Mount Cook, the school committee have closed their three schools (boys', girls and infants) from this morning. The Clyde Quay school will also be closed from to-morrow. Medical men state that the epidemic as yet is of the mildest form. Timaru, Last Night. The La Grippe patients are more numerous in town and away back to the Mackenzie country. Melbourne, April 9. It is feared tbat as damp cold weather sets in. influenza will become a very serious menace to the public health, the epidemic is spreading rapidly, and there is no sign of it abating.
