Mild influeuza has made its appearance in the country districts. . , Melboubnk, March 2i>. Influenza is atticking the residents of Ballarat, Sandhurst and Castlemaine. The Depaitment of Agriculture has received a letter from London that the success of the importation of Australian buttir into England is assured, and it states it is of better quality than that sent from New Zealand. Sydxkv, March 29. The Government have accepted the terms of the company being floated in England to construct the locomotives rerjuired for the New South Wales railways. The company comprises Mr Greenwood, of the firm of Messrs Greenwood aud Batley, engineers, Leeds, and Mr Pepper, of Messrs Taylor Brothers, the well-known steel makers, Leeds. The managing director is Mr Drummond, formerly engineer engaged on the Caledonian Railway. --Company, and now manager of the St. Rollox Works, Glasgow. Eight persons >wpre travelling on a trolly near Wallsend mine, when it came into collision with a truck coining in the opposite direction.; A man named Tucker aud a woman named Davis Taylor were killed. Several others were seriously injured.
