London, March 29. Forty thousand Durham miners threaten'to go out unless the owners agree to a deniand of 25 per cent, increase of wages.

The bootmakers in East London are out demanding work in factories instead of home work. The strike among Liverpool Dock labourers,is virtually over, and thousands of men are resuming work on the masters' terms.

Beiu.in, March 29. The Berlin Labour Conference has closed its sitttings. It recommends the establishment of Courts of Arbitration, and periodical International Conference to deal with the subject of .labour. The Coil; ference also recommends that there should be a weekly day of rest of all operatives, and Sunday is preferred as the day. In cases where continuous production is necessary this Conference considers that there should be a free Sunday every fortnight. The Intercolonial Wharf Labourers' Conference has adopted the eight hours system, but left to the various colonies to decide the hour of commencing! work and that of knocking off. The question of a uniform rate of wages is postponed until next Conference. Paris, March 20. M. Constans, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has given notice to State prohibiting them from taking part in the national demonstration on May 1 in favour of the eight hours' labour.
