No. 5 Bath.—The work in connection with No. 5 bath is now nearly completed, and the bath 'vill bu available for visitors in a few days, The wator is a shade wanner than No. G, and will no doubt be very popular. The whole of the work has been carried out under the supervision of the resident engineer, Mr H. Crump, to the entire xatiefaction of the board. Visitors to Te Aroha are still numerous, and cures are of such frequent occurrence that they no longer excite comment.
The New Electorate.—Tho fact that Te Aroha is to be the centre of a large electoral district has given unbounded .satisfaction here, although many would have preferred a district solely composed of constituencies interested in mining pursuit--. Amongst the probable candidates already mentioned, such as Messrs Shepherd Allen, G. V. Stewart and A. J. Caduian. Tine latter appears to be the favourite, and will have a great show amongst the electors batween Parawai and Waiorongomai.
Thk Waiokongomai Reduction , Works. —The closing of the works at Waiorongomai is a sad blow to the place, and miners are getting doubtful as to the ultimate intentions of the directors to work the mines and their splendid plant erected at the cost of so many thousands. Many believe that the Government will grant the subsidy asked for, and that everything will be in full swing again.
