SALVATIONIST FAREWELLING AT CAMBRIDGE.
Gait. Wood and Lieiit.. Grantham, who have had charge" , of the Cambridge corps of the Salvation Army, left for tneir now station by yesterday's train. Prior to their .doparturo, farewell s'ervicos were held at Tamvhare and "Cambridge, anil at the former place the school-room was filled on Monday by an attentive audience. On Tuesday evening a meeting and o>u"ee supper at the barracks, Cambridgn, t ink pliic, when the building was crowded, and hearty demonstrations of the esteem in which the officers are held wore frequent. Tlio Rev. C. H, Garland occupied a seat on the platform, and during the evening spoke feelingly of the good the Salvation Army had done in Cambridge, and tlic tokens of approval of their work that had been granted by Almighty God. He said that to know (Japt. Wood was to love him, and pointed out to detractors of the Army, and those who said the four churches existing ii) Cambridge could do all that was wanted, that the Salvationists got at the people the churches would not get at, and that if the work'they had done in Cambridge in reform, ing certain four men, whose;changed flives could be seen by. : anyone; if this was all 'they had'do'tie; itTw'as sufficieufc' to confute those \vhe> spoke against them. Interesting addresses were also given by Lieut. Leonard, of Hamilton, aud others, also testimonies from the soldiers.' Sorigs of a local nature were sung, in which the names of members e>f the corps were freely introduced, much to the amusement of the audience, and the Captain was alluded to as being the pn.per sort of "wood," "straight in the grain," "all heart," "no knots, or flaws," &c, while Lieut. Grantham's future occupation was to be " pickin' on a harp." Altogether a very pleasant evening was spout, and the corps wished their officers a hearty God speed.
