NEW ZEALAND DAIRY ASSOCIATION.
SHIPMENT OP BUTTER. By the mail steamer Tongariro which sailed on the 26th ult., the above-mentioned Association forwarded to the Home m.irket their fourth shipment of butter for this season, which will reach London early in February when it should meet with the best market of the season. Considerable difficulty was experienced in obtaining spacn to England for this shipment, which counted of 1350 boxes, the gross weight of which was 44 tons, as only small provision had been made by the Company for the carnage of dairy produce. The whole of this butter haß been manufactured at the Association's factory at Pukekohe. and special care was taken to obtain freezing, not cool, soace for the shipment, as Mr Spragg, the manager of the Ass iciation contends, in spite of popular belief, th .t butter will keep best at a temperature below freezing point, and he is confirmed in his contention by the fact that the leading English houses are now advising shippers to send the butter in freezing chambers, as that so carried arrives in London in the best condition.
