Bv electricity, Dr. Wilkins, of Auckland, has successfully removed superfluous hair* from the face, chest and eyelids, when it is desirable to have this dons permanently. Frequently the advice of the physician has been sought in vain liy women to whom tho abnormal and obnoxious growth of hair on the face has been the cause of great annoyance. Now, however, the roots of the hair can bo permanently removed by electrolysis (electricity). The operation is a simple one, although, as in nvmy other simple operations, a peculiar dexterity is required, and far more satisfactory results are obtained after a certain amount of experience. A Voltare Battery is required and a needle, made for tlie purpose, as fine as a hair, which is attached to the negative cord of the battery. This needle, on the stylo of which the success of the operation mainly depends, is introduced into the fallicade by the side of the hair, which causes scarcely any pain to the patient. Tho electrolytic action begins at once, and, after a few seconds, the hair is Raized by a pair of forceps and the gentlest traction exerted. It will be found to be loose, and can be removed, never to grow again. Dr. Wilkins has healed several cases very successfully by the electrical method, and not only has he removed hairs from the face and chest, but he has treated inn-t successfully by this method several who had siifi fered for years from bid eyes, caused by the eyelashes growing inwards upon the eye-ball, which was not only a source of annoyance, but sometimes causes blindness. Formerly the patient got temporary relief by having thorn repeatedly extracted, but this frequently made matters worae. as they uruw agiiin witb itwraased strenirth, now they can bo permanently and effectually removed by electricity. Jβ v this science sUiclnre of tho blad !■_•!• can be quickly cored, .is also nnrve deb; if.y and many other disease*. Truly electricity is a wonderful power, but it must be most carefully studied, as Dr. Wilkins has dono for many yearn. I
