Railway Rki-okm Leauue.— At the last meeting of the Town Hoard letters were raid in reference to the Railway Reform League, and the Wuikato Horticultural .Show, and it was resolved to call a public meeting for Thursday, December lOtli, to consider both subjects particularly, as the Horticultural Show would not be held in Te Awamutu, unless a committee was at once appointe.d to make arrangements. KnTHUTAIN.MI'.NT Foil Gill LUKES'.—Concerts are the order of the day, consequently Mr Vause conceived the idea of getting up an entertainment for the benefit of children on Monday 23rd imt., inasmuch as the whole of the receipts are to be devoted to the purchase of toys and other Christmas presents, which will be distributed to _tho children in the hall by " Santa Claus" himself, who has promised to come all the way from Germany for the purpsoe. Besides songs, recitations, &c., by children, there will also be songs by well-known lady and gentleman singers and a magic lantern display which the Rev. Mr Boler lias very kindly promised to give. The prices of admission will be sixpence for children and a shilling for adults, family tickets for six throe shillings. It is to be hoped there will bo a large attendance. The promoters are counting upon 150 children and toys and presents for that number will be provided. New Flax Mill.—A new Hax uiill is being built here by Mr Sherroek. The site chosen is in a paddock of Mr Carleys', on the banks of the Mangaohoe. Chances in' Business.--The butchering business carried on by the late Mr J. Cunningham was put up for sale by order of the Public Trustee on Saturday, and was purchased by Messrs Gibson Bros., from whom Mr Cunningham purchased it two years ago. The Messrs Gibson are very popular, and will do as large and prosperous a business as they did formerly.
