SCHOOL EXAMINATIONS.
The scholars attending the public schools in the neighbourhood of Cambridge have lately been examined by Inspector Crowe, and the results have proved satisfactory. He seems very well pleased with the progress made at the Cambridge East school, under the mastership of Mr Dyer. He also speaks in high terms of the examination at Cambridge West, when Mr H. R. Ilyatt managed to pass !)0 per cent of those presented. But it is Hnutapu that takes the palm, for there Miss Sinclair teaches six standards, in addition to two infant classes, without a single assistant, and yet, out of 32 presented for examination only four failed. We thing Miss Sinclair deserves great credit for having obtained such a good result, and were pleased to hear the Inspector speak in glowing terms of the manner in which the school is conducted. In former years we have known children, that were unlikely to pass, told to stay at home. This time we have not heard of that little trick being practised.
