TAWHIAO'S MANIFESTO.
Although Tawhiao denies the authenticity of the manifesto read at the Maungakawa native meeting, it is bearing fruit, and a portion of his deluded followers are endeavouring to follow the instructions therein, and are putting every possible obstacle in the way to obstruct the Native Land Courts. A native named Tairi te Oriori of Maungatautari euchred himself at the Cambridge Court on Tuesday. Mr Hay applied to have a portion of No 2 block at Maungatautari divided amongst four native, of whom Tairi was one. The other three were not present, and Tairi—evidently trying to follow the King's instructions—objected to have his name inserted ; so after mature consideration, Judge Mair convoyed the land to the three absentees, leaving Tairi out in the cold. The verdict of the pakehas will be, serve him right,
