King, and White, were ascending the shaft in the South Burwood mine this evening, when the cage, being overdrawn, struck the poppet heads. The concussion caused the rope to break, and the men were precipitated to the bottom of the shaft a distance of four hundred and fifty feet, and were smashed to pieces.
