LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS.

Auckland, Friday. At the Board of Education meeting to-day, the following tenders were accepted for minting the different school buildings :— Cambridge West, S. Fletcher, £7 os ; ICihikilii, E. Cox, £(>; Riineiaohia, S, Kennard, £7 I'm ; Kntikati, ,T. B. Chappel, £!) 15s; same, No. 8 school, \V. Chappel, £10 7s 0:i. At the Police Court to-day, Howard, the steward of the barque Lurline, was committed for trial for stabbing the cook. The prisoner is a West Indian nugro. At tiie Hoard of Education meeting today, Mr Fidler wrote asking to be appointed to some country tchool, and the Board decided to grant the request when an opportunity occurred.
