INVERCARGILL, Monday. Bishop Moran and a party of priests arrived by the Wairarapa from Melbourne last night, and reached Invercargill this iiiorniug. The Bishop inspected the Catholic schools, and addresses a congregation this evening. DCJNEDIN, Monday.
James Pithers, a newspaper runner but latterly employed as gardener, committed suicide at Roslyn by shooting himself with a gun. He had b*-en much depressed in spirits since his return from Sydney, whither he had gone on a visit to a relative. Deceased was fifty years of age and unmarried. The Carpenter's Society refused to take part in the Exhibition procession as a trade organisation on account of the low wages paid to workmen on the Exhibibition buildings, but will attend as members of Friendly Societies.
