POLICE COURT, HAMILTON.
Friday.—(Before Messrs G. W. Russell and J. Knox, J.P.'s.) John Dillon was charged with having been drunk in tho Borough of Hamilton on the sth inst. ; accused pleaded guilty. There was a further charge against the prisonor for a breach of the Licensing Act in refusing to leave tho Commercial Hotel when ordered to do so by the landlord, Mr Bright, who stated that he wished to withdraw the charge. Tho Bench remarked that having mado tho charge and come before the Court he must proceed with it, but the Court would take his wishes into consideration when sentencing the prisoner. Though unknown to the Hamilton police, the accused was brought before the Cambridge Police Court in December last, having been implicated in some row with the natives, and was on that occasion fined £5. On the first offence he was fined £1 and costs 2s or in default 48 hours imprisonment ; the fine was paid. On the second charge he was dismissed with a caution. The Bench advised the prisoner, who said he bad just come from the tunnel, to leave Hamilton lest he should get into further trouble.
