THE REPRESENTATION BILL.

|BY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin. Friday. _ In response to a very influential requisition, the Mayor has convened a public meeting to protest against the disfranchisement of the town under tho Representation Bill. Wellington, I 1 riday. An enthusiastic meeting of Wellington East and Wellington South electors, called by Messrs Fisher and Izard, the respective members, was held this evening to discuss the provisions of the Representation bill in troduced by the Government and now before the House. There was a very large attendance. The meeting was addressed by Sir George Grey, Messrs .Lusher, lzava, Fisher and Taiwhanea, M.H.R. s, and Mr T. R. McDonald. The following resolutions wero carried:—l. 'J hat this meeting strongly disapproves of the provisions ot the Representation Bill, and tho action ot the Government in attempting to deprive the city electors of a fair proportion of tile representation, and cordially thanks the members for Wellington East and South for opposing the measure. 2. that this meeting records its warm approval ot the action of those city and suburban and other members wlu. have so ably and zealously dovoted themselves to the preservation ot t-.lio Molit.ieal rights of city electors.
