DR BARNARDO'S HOMES.
Archdeacon Wrujs has handed us the following letter which ho has received from Dr. Barnardo, the celebrated philanthropist of London, under date of January 21st, 1889: —Rev. and dear Sir, —I can scarcely tell you how deeply grateful I ain to you for tiie generous efforts you have made in behalf of our Institutions. It encourages and sustains mo beyond measure to know that my Christian friends in distant lands have such a practical sympathy with me in my work among the little outcasts of our great city. I assure you, dear Sir, I appreciate most warmly the help that, you have rendered us, and 1 beg you will accept my heartiest thanks for your kindness. I shall feel very much obliged too, if you would convey to all the friends who have contributed in aid of our Homes my best thanks in acknowledgment of their goodness ; especially to the children who have given to the cause, will you please convey an expression of my gratitude, and tell them how pleased I am to have the sympathy ami halu of my dear young friends. My large family of 3,000 boys and girls have many needs, and require constant care in their training and their educati m, so that they may grow up to lie true Christian men and women. And, in addition, to these claims there are those which come from outside. We have have just established some lodgiug houses fur children in the lowest slums in London to draw little waifs and strays out of the dark dangerous streets—morally dark and dangerous—within the influence of our rescue work. My helpers each night search the streets for those who do not come into our Homes or into the lodging-houses unless 'hey are brought. We earnestly pray that God will continue to own and bless our work for Him among His little ones. Commending our cause to your continued sympathy and prayer, and with Christian regards,—-Believe me to be, dear Sir, your faithful co-worker in the cause of the children, Thos. J. BAlowitno. The Veil Archdeacon Willis, S. Andrew's Cambrigo, New Zealand. P.S.—Very many thanks for Mr Marshall's address which you have kindly sent me in your letter. Archdeacon Willis will be glad to recoive subscriptions, however small, in aid of the above commendable Institution.
