FOOTBALL

The annual meeting of the Hamilton Football Club was held last Saturday, in the large room of TltK W.-UK.VIO Times Buildings. There were upwards of -10 (juniors and seniors) present. Mr T. G. Sandes was voted to the chair. Mr P. E. Stevens, late lion, sec., read the minutes of the previous annual meeting which were confirmed, and tho following report for 18SS. Last football season was the bast that the Hamilton Club has had for many a long year. The club played 11 matches, won 7, drew 2, and lost 2. Contrary to the Hamilton custom a captain was chosen for the season, the result was beneficial in every way, and it ito be hoped that the same will be done thi.season. Last season reveral yonng players joined the club, and risrht well did they play, showing that they had not forgotten their skill acquired in school matches. The following matters should be discussed by members. (1) New football rules that are buitig universally adopted. (2) Formation of a local union and club cup matches. (3) Improvement of Sydney Square. (4) Choice of a captain. (5) Club colours. The lat» treasurer's accounts showed receipts for the year to Is, and expenditure £4 13s Id, leaving a credit balance of 7s lid. This is omitting a debt of £2 due to the late secretary. The following officers were elected: —President: Mr L. O'.Neill. VicePresidents : Messrs T. G. tt.isides, U. Edgecombe and L. Cussen. Hon. S c. : Mr M. Huine. Treasurer: Mr 11. G .vyono. Committee: Messrs Sage, .J. O Noill. F. Hammond, Cassidy, F. von Stunner, T. Reed, and T, G. Sandes. (1) It was resolved to play under the new rules ; (2) to form a local Football Union ; (3) to leave the improvement of Sydney Square in the hands of the. committee ; (4) to defer the choice of a captain ; (o) to play in maroon and white ; (0) to form a second fifteen, sub sci'iption to be 2s lid, and the captain to bo a member of tho general committee. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr Flood and othor members of the Ethiopians for the contribution of £1 7s 2d to the club funds, and to the retiring officers of the club.
