THE GOVERNOR'S DEPARTURE.
(BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, Monday. The bright sunny afternoon induced a large crowd to throng the wharf to witness the Governor's departure. There was no ceremony, but the artillery fired a salute and the band played a few bars of the National Anthem. Sir William, accompanied by Miss Jervois, merely shook hands with a few personal acquaintances, and then went on board the Wairarapa, the steamer moving away from the wharf almost immediately.
