THE RAWSON ENQUIRY.
♦ [by telegraph.—press ASSOCIATION.] New Plymouth, Monday, The charge brought by William Humphries against Mr Kawaon for dispensing with u jury which had to try tho main facta in ail application of William Bayley was called on this morning. The jury summoned to try certain issues in the catie wore discharged without any reason given by Mr Rawsnn, and be adjudicated without one. Sir R. Stout said his contention was that there was no valid order for the jury in the first instance. Mr Humphries next charge was one of undue influence. William Bayley was the next witness, and said he respected Mr Ilawson a? a private gentleman, but not as district judge, and gave as his reason a case where a decision was given on an agreement which did not meet his views; but in
answer to Sir R. Stout, he admitted he could not interpret nn ngrecment better than a legal man. In reply to Mr Jellicoe, Bayley said Mr Rawson, he considered, leaned toward Mr Samuel, who was conducting the case. Sir R. Stout put in the agreement in dispute to the Commissioners.
