RM. COURT, CAMBRIDGE.
Yksterday.— (Before Oapt. Jackson, R.M.) Several minor civil cases were disposed of, after which the magistrate informed Messrs Owen, Ohitty, O'Neill, Reid and Runciman that the Government had reduced the lino for having unmanufactured tobacco in their possession, from £12 10s to £3 each, which they would have to pay, together with £1 9< 9d costs, or go to Mount Eden. They each paid the money. A Wastb of Time.—The remainder of the day was occupied by the hearing of a Cambridge West case, in which Fred. Reynold:-, John Hall, and Thomas Hall were charged with having used insulting language to Giles Keeley. The defendants had a summons against James Keeley, father of the plaintiff in the former case, for assault, which was heard at the same time. Sir W. Wasteneys appeared for Reynolds and the Halls, and Mr Dyer for Keeleys. Tho case was a most ridiculous waste of time spent over a neighbours' quarrel, and a frightful amount of perjury was committoi by one or other of tho sides. The case was adjourned until next court day.
